Wæstm: Installment Number Nine!

Eala! Welcome back to the antepenultimate installment of Wæstm, in which the battle finally comes to a dramatic conclusion. This chapter has some of my favorite imagery, and it very closely reflects many classic medieval and other historical descriptions of battles. The swords clash

Firelight gleams on silver blades

Fyr-leoht lixeð on seolfrium irenum

The battle rages 

Se ecg-plega aheardað

At last, silence

Lætemest, swigung

The apple rises up

Se waestm ariseð
